The McIntyre Lab was awarded an NIH R01 grant from the National Institutes on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders. This award will allow us to study hypothalmic modulation of the olfactory bulb. Specifically we will be investigating the role of melanin-concentrating hormone (MCH) releasing neurons on olfactory function. This project will make use of a wide variety of approaches and will provide new insight into how hormones associated with hunger and sleep behaviors influence the sense of smell.
